It was the first mechanical engineering department in Taiwan to receive international accreditation from the Institute of Engineering Education Taiwan (IEET), making its degrees internationally recognized. The department continues to advance international engineering education standards and actively promotes global exchange programs and international study tracks.
Established in 1955, this department was the first civil engineering program in Taiwan to receive accreditation from the Institute of Engineering Education Taiwan (IEET). Civil engineering covers the construction of both visible structures—such as buildings, roads, and bridges—and invisible infrastructure like culverts, sewers, and hydraulic facilities.
The curriculum integrates key areas including structural engineering, hydraulics, geotechnical engineering, transportation, construction management, surveying, and materials. The program emphasizes the connection between theory and practice, with a strong focus on hands-on training to cultivate civil engineering professionals with both technical expertise and practical problem-solving skills.
The Department of Chemical Engineering at Chung Yuan Christian University was established in 1955 and is one of the university’s four founding departments. To date, it has produced over 9,000 graduates. Alumni have excelled in various chemical engineering-related industries, helping the department build a strong reputation in the field.
In global university rankings, CYCU’s chemical engineering discipline consistently ranks among the top one or two nationwide, surpassing many national universities. Faculty members have an outstanding record of academic publications, research projects, and patent achievements. Several professors have been recognized among the world’s top 2% scientists.
